The Oriental Caipirinha or Caipirinha Oriental most likely gets its name from the eastern origin of its ingredients. Mint, tangerine, and Sake are all products of the far East but come together in this Brazilian recipe to result in an exotic and refreshing mix of flavors.
Some people argue that Sake should not be mixed with either acid or citric fruits, but I guess that is an individual choice. I myself haven’t yet tried the Caipisake version, but I can tell you from experience that the cachaça version is one hell of a caipi. The way the citric tangerine taste mixes with the freshness of mint and coolness of ice is really special.

- 75 ml Sake or Cachaça
- 1/2 tablespoon Honey
- 6 bulbs Tangerine
- 5 leaves Mint
- Add the Tangerine buds, the honey and the mint leaves into the cocktail mixer and crush the mixture slightly with a pestle.
- Add ice and the cachaça, seal the cocktail mixer and shake until the mix becomes cold.
- Serve cold.
